For Such a Time? 6-25-23

If you’ve ever heard the phrase “for such a time as this”, it comes from the book of Esther in the bible. Esther was chosen to be the queen of Persia, and a man named Haman had a plot to exterminate the Jewish people. As queen, Esther would need to go before the king to plead for her people, but doing so could cost her her life. Mordecai, her cousin (who raised her), said to her “perhaps you were born for such a time as this” as he encouraged her to stand up, in God's strength, and do what was in front of her.

Though I am a simple and unimportant person, not a queen (not even of my own castle 😂), and can’t save a whole people group, we each are created for good works that are prepared for us to walk in. Simple or elaborate. Widespread or next door.

Is this one of the things set before us to do? We honestly don’t know yet. We know we can’t do it alone. But we are moving forward. One step at a time, and will watch how it plays out in front of us. Maybe the answer doesn’t come all at once?
